~ 4 Cold Moon Stars ~

Cold Moon Rising is a novella #1.5 in the Cry Wolf series by Sarah Mäkelä. I new this would be a short read, but wow I was not expecting the ending. Cliffhanger! Now I want to know what happens next with Jacob and Kelly.

We get some undercover scientific/militant group trying to create a supper solder buy capturing shifters and doing who knows what with them. I’m think this might be a set up for future conflict in the series. We get a hot sex scene, a great adrenaline rush run to be free, and a little humor. I had a wonderful laugh at the twilight reference. I also enjoyed the mixed narrative. It was clear who you where reading about. POV style. I liked Jacob and Kelly. Kelly was a little quick to cast blame on Jacob. Jacob is such a good guy and he put himself in harms way to rescue the one women he can’t live without.

All I can say is this story was to short and left me with a dramatic cliffhanger that I’m hanging here wanting to know what happens to Jacob and Kelly. I hope the author gives us the rest of their story. Nice quick read.

~ 3 Witchy Wolf Stars ~

The Witch Who Cried Wolf is book one in the Cry Wolf series by [a:Sarah Mäkelä|1349820|Sarah Mäkelä|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1353982374p2/1349820.jpg]. This story has witch’s and werewolves’s things I enjoy reading about, but it needed to be longer to develop more of the world and characters. It’s a descent start to the series.

Mia our witch. At times I liked her and at others I got frustrated with her. She lets fear stop her from being the best she can be. I’m not sure if I ever felt her get stronger in this story. I was also confused with her lack of knowledge of the supernatural world and her witchcraft. It mentioned she read her grandmas grimoire, so why the lack of knowledge? How long did she have these powers? When did they start showing? So you can see it was hard to really connect to Mia or figure out what was going on without asking myself questions throughout this book.

Ethan our solder guy and long time crush of Mia’s. I wanted more of his story. We don’t get a background story on him. We do get a mention that his parents died in a car accident, but not when this happened. Their is also a promise Ethan made to Mia’s brother, but not what it was or why. Last we are left wondering what happens next for him now that he is a werewolf.

Mia’s mentor Jessa the own of a magic shop, we are left with her in the hospital. Also Mia’s brother it feels like something is going on with him. Not sure. I’m curious to know what's up with him.

As you can see many questions/things are left un-answered which I hope get answered as the series progresses. Lots of things need to be flushed out more. The one thing I did like was the POV mixed narrative. It was always clear who you where reading about. It was also nice to finally see Mia and Ethan hook up. The sex was mediocre and we only get one sex scene at the end. I had trouble connected to this book and fully enjoying the story with all the question's and lack of world development.

The Witch Who Cried Wolf is an ok start to the Cry Wolf series. Many things need to be flushed out and hopeful the author will take care of this as the series moves on.

~ 3.5 Fire Stars ~

The Wolf Who Played With Fire is book two in Sarah Mäkelä Cry Wolf series. This is a continuation of the story from [b:The Witch Who Cried Wolf|22313181|The Witch Who Cried Wolf (Cry Wolf, #1)|Sarah Mäkelä|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1400974530s/22313181.jpg|27058691]. Another descent read in the Cry Wolf series. It’s a quick, fun, fast-paced romantic read.

Mia our witch and girlfriend/lover to Ethan. I still had the same mixed feelings about her that I did in book 1. She is developing as a witch and not as scared to use her powers, but I still was frustrated that she does not know much for a witch. She has access to a grimoire and other books in the store she works at, so why dosent she read them and learn? Mia is also still hiding from her family who she really is.

Ethan our solder and know new werewolf. I liked getting more of a POV from him. We get to learn about his struggles to still have a normal life along with his development into a werewolf. I appreciate the sturggles, but the gap between him and Nolan is too wide. We see that he has deep feelings for Mia almost like she is his mate, but it’s not said that she is (only implied).

The story is fast-paced and done in a POV style mixed narrative. Very clear who you where reading about. Ms. Mäkelä does a nice job with the POV. Ethan and Mia have chemistry, but after reading Jacob and Kelly’s story it’s obvious how unconnected I feel to Ethan and Mia. They are still hiding there relationship from Mia’s family. Not sure why and then we never learn about this promise that Ethan made to Nolan that was mentioned in book 1. I really like Nolan as a character and wish he was in on all the supernatural side of things. He has so much potential and I still feel like he senses what’s going on with Ethan and Mia. Maybe he has a little supernatural in him? I am really wanting to finish Jacob and Kelly’s story from [b:Cold Moon Rising|20554961|Cold Moon Rising (Cry Wolf, #1.5)|Sarah Mäkelä|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1390797196s/20554961.jpg|40216074]. We only get a glimpse of them through the eye’s of the pack in this one and it’s not said what happens to them. The sex was still mediocre for me, maybe because I don’t have a good connection to Mia and Ethan. I still ended up having several un-answered questions at the end of this book.

The Wolf Who Played With Fire is a nice continuation in the Cry Wolf series though their are still things that need to be flushed out. I am really looking forward to the continuation of Jacob and Kelly and hopeful the author will give us that soon.

While the contemporary romance is an important part of the story, the urban fantasy is more compelling. There are plenty of plot twists and some really humorous situations. The characters are very well thought out, and I enjoyed it very much. Except that now I have to get more of the series to answer those questions left unanswered!
