Größen wie Newton und Leibniz, die beiden Kontrahenten, kommen zu Wort, die Bernoulli-Dynastie (wobei der fiktive Dialog zwischen Johann Bernoulli und Johann Sebastian Bach sehr gelungen ist), aber auch weniger bekannten Namen wie Girolamo Cardano oder John Napier, der 'Erfinder' der Logarithmen.
Und auch wenn in der Fülle der dargestellten historischen Entwicklungen der Blick auf die Zahl e gelegentlich etwas verstellt wird, handelt es sich letztlich um ein im wesentlichen gutes Buch, das - und das ist sicherlich ein besonderes Verdienst - in der Lage ist, Interesse an weiterführender Literatur zu wecken.… (mehr)
