Jesse Martin

There's something that I really love about Jesse Martin's writing - it could be the honesty or the childlike longing for adventure that is so addictive. This book is just as enjoyable as Lionheart and is a fantastic companion read. I hope the thirst for adventure hasn't run dry and there's more books from Martin in the future.

The first book from my list that I can recall reading twice. The first reading was as a teenager, being inspired to push my boundaries and see the world. The second as a parent of two young boys, wondering how I can foster such confidence in them at an early age to take on challenges. The maturity of his observations on life and approach really stand out on second reading. Great book.

Great book for boating enthusiasts and people who like to read about great achievements against the odds. It tells the story of a very young man who goes on a very long sea voyage alone. He perseveres through all kinds of trials and achieves what he set out to do.
