Actress Marlee Matlin was born in Morton Grove, Illinois on August 24, 1965. At the age of eighteen months, she lost all hearing in her right ear and 80% of the hearing in her left ear. At the age of 21, she won the Academy Award and the Golden Globe for Best Actress for her role in Children of a mehr anzeigen Lesser God (1986). She also appeared in the movies It's My Party and What the Bleep Do We Know!? She has appeared on numerous television programs including Seinfeld, Picket Fences, The Practice, Law and Order: SVU, The West Wing, and The L Word. I read about half of this (to page 126), but wasn't learning that much about Deaf culture or even addiction--it is really more of a Hollywood bio, with lots of name-dropping and descriptions of movie set scenes, etc. Which is fine, but not really something I would benefit from learning more about.
There is some swearing, which I probably wouldn't have given a thought to except that another library user had "helpfully" censored those parts with a pen.… (mehr)
