This book goes over the basics of the digestive system in a fun, interesting way: a child, Sam, has a full conversation with his mother where they are sharing their knowledge of it while Sam's mom makes him a pizza for lunch. The illustrations not only provide great demonstrations but do it in a way that peaks the reader's interest even more: whomever is telling the fact is shown standing inside that part of the human body. The author and illustrator did a fantastic job and actually managed to avoid anything that would illicit bathroom jokes towards the end of the book. "I Know Where My Food Goes" is a wonderful book that helps the readers learn about their body and the functions their body parts have. In the story, Sam's mother is preparing dinner, and Sam and his mother talk about the body and where the food goes. I love how organized this book is, it starts from the food entering the body to when the food exits the body. The story is clear and explains the process in a simple way for children to understand. Also, I loved the humorous illustrations, it made the story super enjoyable to read. Overall, this is a great book about the digestive system and I would love to share it with my class one day.… (mehr)

I KNOW WHERE MY FOOD GOES is a great book to use during a unit on digestion and how the body works. Students will love the use of a story integrated with factual information about where food goes in our body. The style and organization of this story makes it look and feel like a fiction picture book. The use of a cartoon family as the main characters in the story helps kids feel like they are reading a story and not learning facts about digestion. While there are no true access features in this story, the author used consultants to help verify the facts in the book.… (mehr)
