I like this book because I really, really like this sport. As a result of my intensely deep like ok love of this sport, it is always nice to be able to have a since of its origins and the early players. For those who want to look for specific players, it is easy in this book as it is arranged in alphabetical order. There are the players you expect to see like Gretzky, you can't write a hockey book without "The Great One," the Hull family, the Sutter clan and some of the other pioneers of the game. If you are lookig for Willie O'Ree, this is not the book to pick up although by all accounts he was a trailblazer of the sport but this edition did include Grant Fuhr which is good.
Do not pick this book up if you are looking for the 2000 era stars like Ovechkin, Crosby, Kovalchuk because they are not in this one but no doubt their edition is out there.
If you want to have more information for hockey trivia this is one to peruse.
Oh yeah, there are early photos that give a visual of the game's progression. The phrase "You've come a long way" is definitely appropriate.… (mehr)
