Freddie Mercury: A Life, In His Own Words von Freddie Mercury
Rather than being a traditional biography, this is really a compendium of Freddie Mercury quotes from interviews he gave, organized mostly chronologically but also grouped by theme. It is an invaluable source for Freddie/Queen fans. One big drawback was that the sources aren’t individually cited for each quote. Rather, they are generally acknowledged in the back of the book. I can see that this was an editorial choice to de-clutter the book but I would have liked footnotes with sources, personally. However, a plus side is the index which helps if you need to find a specific quote about Radio Ga Ga, for example.
Overall, a great read for me and a reference I will definitely use in the future.… (mehr)

Freddie Mercury: his Life in His Own Words von Greg Brooks
The closest we'll get to an autobiography. Funny, honest, poignant - doesn't answer all the 'big' questions, but Freddie guarded his privacy and wanted to keep those answers to himself.

Melkoinen yllätys, kuinka paljon Freddiestä oli saatu kokoon yksinomaan hänen haastattelujensa pohjalta, vaikka yleisessä tiedossa on, ettei hän elämänsä aikana antanut montaa haastattelua.
Muiden kertoman sijaan tässä kirjassa on omanlaisensa tunnelma - jos valheita on, ne ovat Freddien itsensä luomia, eivät kenenkään hänen tuttunsa.
