This is a detailed history of the events surrounding the Synod from the perspective of the English divines such as Davenant, Hall, Overall, Carleton, Goad, and Andrewes that acted in condemnation of the Remonstrant party and Arminianism. It's fascinating because it shows the broad Reformed consensus and shared community between the Continental churches and the CofE, as well as outlining the theological moderation of the English divines (Davenant and Ward in particular) towards limited expiation theology. It's not a perfect history-- Milton tends to overplay his hand in testing positive for Arminianism in the unlikeliest of places.
