* I got this book for review from the publisher for my honest thoughts*

This was super fun read. It reminds so much of my regency romances. I really liked the ages of this character and this story felt aged up to me. I also really loved the focus on both traveling and also mythology. I also saw so much of Indian jones in this story. I liked the all the characters but did not feel super connected to anyone. Some of the plot points were super fast but it was fun read and would def read more books in the series in the future.… (mehr)

Take the classic tale of Cinderella and flip it upside down. It's told from the viewpoint of Aralyn, older stepsister who has been as much a prisoner of her mother as was Cinderella, now married to the prince and known as Ellarose. Aralyn spent her life readying to be the princess, learning economics, government, history, etc. in preparation, only to be dropped from favor so her younger sister can take that spot.
When Ellarose seeks her out to help save the kingdom, it's tempting to hold to her Machiavellian mindset, but as she comes to understand the level of toxic corruption threatening the kingdom, she can't ignore it. Neither can she ignore the way her attraction to the prickly knight Vee, daughter of perhaps the most corrupt member of the king's council, keeps growing.
Add in three nearly impossible quests, a very unorthodox fairy godmother, plus lots of action and you have a compulsive page-turner. Great work, Jenny!

This was different. Sometimes I felt it went fast sometimes it dragged. I expected more action. Nice take on what would happen if Robin and Marien had a daughter no one knew about. I waited patiently for more to happen with the romance between Adam and Isabelle. If you have readers who enjoy RH, this one is for them.
