These concise little poems pack an amazing amount of power. Meditative.
This novel should have started with its last chapter and proceeded from there.
I read this book about 10 years ago and loved it at the time. It's about time to re-read and see if it holds up.
Brilliantly written (truly, the language is like music), the story is moderately interesting; the average reader likely will figure out the mystery quite quickly.
Sometimes the book was a bit too esoteric for my taste - long descriptions that seem there simply to allow the author the chance to come up with another metaphor, or insert a lovely word or two, rather than have anything whatsoever to do with the story.
My chief complaint is that I didn't like or care about any of the characters, all of whom were completely self-absorbed.… (mehr)
