I was pleasantly surprised by how much I actually liked this book and was interested in finding out what was going to happen next. The story starts off with Ember and her bad day…We learn about her friends and her
stalker ex-boyfriend (I am not sure 2 dates is boyfriend/girlfriend) but anyways….
When Ember stakes Mr. Mystery Man at a car accident as her man to piss Jack off little
does she know how much her life is going to change. I loved the characters and the story was fast paced therefore I never lost interest in the book and it was fast paced. I absolutely adored Blake too.… (mehr)

This is a very well written book, very entertaining plot and will keep you hooked until the end. Our main character, Ember, is a young teenager who sees dead people. She thinks she might be crazy, but that is nothing compared to what is about to happen in her life. She is introduced to a whole new world of craziness, with vampires, witches and ghosts, and she quickly she finds out that she is not completely normal, when her hidden powers start emerging. This book has all ingredients to be a success among young adults. It will keep you reading late into the night.

I couldn't get into the characters of this book, especially the main characters. Ember is an 18 yr-old senior in high school. She is stubborn to the point of wanting to shake her. Nathan is a 400 year old vampire who is awfully possessive of things that he wants (re: Ember). He kidnaps her and she hates him, but loves him, but hates him etc. It gets to be old really fast.
The plot of the book is decent, but the shallow way the characters were written takes away from that. I can see why teens would like this, but I think it's one of those books that loses some of it's appeal when an adult reads it.… (mehr)
