I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Covering the historic and tragic climb, about which I have read so much elsewhere, I found the writers' seemingly swift recovery from the loss of Mallory and Irvine a little hard to stomach. The events documented in this book cast a shadow on Mountaineering which still sends a shiver down my spine....

Everybody has an opinion. I fall on the side of those who believe they reached the top, but over-extended themselves and died in the process. And I also fall on the side of those that believe that a climb is incomplete without a safe return.… (mehr)
