Rezensionen

What Richard Ogorkiewicz doesn't know about tanks, isn't worth knowing. Even this short overview of tank technology, there are interesting things for the tank buff. The best part of the book are the section of postwar tanks, as the author here can speak from personal experience about the design processes/

This is the first comprehensive reference book devoted to the history and development of the tanks used by Britain, the United States of America and the Commonwealth during the years 1939-1945. It not only gives a detailed history of each type, but also provides full pictorial and historical coverage of the many variants, which sometimes ran into dozens, which were produced on each chassis. With a few very minor and insignificant exceptions every tank type produced is fully written up-more than 2,000 vehicles in II. There are 569 photographs, many of them being very rare, and a lot of these have never been pu blished before. In addition to the text and photographs, which describe each vehicle, concise specifications are given. In the appendices will be found pictures, brief histories and specification of the principal tank, guns, engines and suspension systems. There is also an appendix containing scale drawing of the principal tank type .
British and American Tanks of World War Il is the biggest book on armoured fighting vehicle yet published and this long-awaited volume fills an important gap in the literature of the subject.
