I was glad to see Jamie in town and loving it. Beck was a quiet and skittish young guy who was working with Gavin. When Jamie, a cop, sees Beck for the first time, he knows that there is something traumatic that happened and has this desire to help him. Very (very) quickly, Jamie is falling for Beck. He doesn’t want to pressure him, but somehow things move very quickly between the two. I wish there was more communication rather than Jamie just seeing Beck as weak (we’ll, he says he doesn’t, but sometimes the way he was talking or thinking in the book made me feel like he did a bit) and try to keep things from him so it wouldn’t hurt or upset him.

The ending was a bit weird and almost like it was additional plot added for the sake of drama versus strong story all the crap with Jamie’s ex and Beck’s uncle-I felt like it could’ve been simplified. The good thing that came out of it, though, was that it made Beck and Jamie stronger.

I enjoyed the story overall, and I am looking forward to more in the series.

Jay is Ace's cousin and comes to live with him after being on his own for many years. He's been through a lot after being kicked out from his family when he was a teen and being homeless for a long time. He's afraid and skittish, but Corey is so patient and soothing to him. I loved listening to Jay come into his own and grow stronger and stronger. He was a great, resilient character.

I liked this narration much better than the last book. Perhaps it was that I am now used to the voice, or perhaps it was because we didn't have as much Tyson in this book to annoy me (because of his voice, not because of the character--I LOVE Tyson). Either way, this was much more enjoyable for me. I'm looking forward to the next book!
