This was adorable. The one thing that made me uncomfortable was the use of the word "gypsy," which is a racial slur. However, the character and her people were treated with great respect and I think their culture (in 1930s Egypt) was correctly shown.

Rocket's father is in the US State Dept and he and Rocket travel the world. On the train to Cairo, while Rocket is bored and nervous about living in yet another new place, Rocket stumbles upon a mystery. He and Muri crack codes, and learn about ancient Egypt while tracking down a lost treasure.

I think kids will enjoy the adventure and learn while they're doing so.

I read half of this graphic novel. It was cute; but it didn't capture my interest. The story moved agonizingly slow. I'm not sure kids would like that. I did find many elements, like the monkey, quite charming. However, all in all it just didn't hold my interest and I didn't feel like finishing the story. I'm not sure if I'd recommend it to anyone, perhaps someone who really likes Egypt and adventure stories.… (mehr)
