Very good story. I devoured this book. Ended too soon.
While I like the idea of a heroine who time-travels back to the time of the Bronte sisters I am less in love with the idea of her falling in love with their brother.
This was a refreshing read, and one that was easy to lose myself in the story. It was nice to see the Bronte sisters get a moment in the spotlight.
Aviva did a great job immersing me into nineteenth century England. I liked Heather and cared about her journey. I also enjoyed getting to know the Bronte family a little bit even if it was fiction. This was a fast read and I recommend it.

Heather Bell is an insecure high school student, who’s insecurity deepens when she is diagnosed with alopecia and starts to lose her hair. I think any of us who have been to high school know that it is a breeding ground for rude comments and negativity towards anyone different in any way, so Heather is just plain miserable. When her mother offers to send her to stay with her great aunt in West Yorkshire, she quickly jumps at the chance. She just wants to get away, and anywhere in the world would be better than where she is currently.
When Heather arrives in Yorkshire, she decides to go exploring, and gets herself lost and disoriented outside in the misty morning air. She suddenly finds herself thrown back in time, befriending none other than Emily and the rest of the Bronte family, who take her in, believing she may be lost or orphaned.
I loved the little snippets of history that were interspersed throughout this story, and how the author did allow readers a little glimpse into the lives of the Bronte family. I really enjoyed the tidbits about Emily’s personality, as she has always been rather a fascination to me. The author did a great job of weaving together fact and fiction, and left you with a story that allows you to suspend reality and just enjoy it and believe. I like that, and not all time-travel historical novels manage it.
There were a couple of things that didn’t really appeal to me. I thought that the plot was a bit predictable, which led to a bit of boredom on my part. I also found myself so annoyed with Heather at times. I know, I know… she is going through a lot, and I do sympathize and get that. I didn’t get annoyed with her attitude towards the alopecia and how it interferes with her life, and I totally get her wearing the beanie all the time. BUT, did she have to be so jealous and have that whiny way about her? There were so many moments where I was like “REALLY, can you just relax a bit!?” I do think maybe this is just me, but it is something I had to mention. In defense of this, I did notice towards the end some character development and Heather became a bit less of a Moaning Myrtle.
Even though I certainly wouldn’t count this as a personal favorite book of mine, it was a cute little story. I finished this book in less than a day, and it did keep my interest completely. I give it a solid 3 stars.… (mehr)
