When Shaggy receives the news that he has inherited a ghostly southern plantation, he goes with Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo to investigate it, only to learn that there is a ransom of jewels hidden on the property. After discovering a group of ghosts and a creepy caretaker have their eyes on the jewels, the three enlist the help of the Boo Brothers to try and scare the ghosts off.

Originally aired as a TV film, this movie was always a highlight from the Scooby-Doo catalog for me. Even though Fred, Daphne, and Velma aren't part of the story (which would've made it much better), it's still an enjoyable adventure for the more timid members of the Mystery Inc. gang, plus Scrappy-Doo. The Boo Brothers themselves and the redneck siblings can get a bit tiring, but the ghostly villains and the big ape add some fun elements to the mix. On top of that, the plot line of following riddles to find the jewels like a scavenger hunt is also pretty fun. On the downside, the film does tend to run on for longer than it has to -- it could've done with being fifteen to twenty minutes shorter. Still, it's a fun adventure with Scooby, Shaggy, and Scrappy that I still enjoy to this day -- although to a lesser degree, with the added caveats. Recommended for fans of the characters and universe.

Content Concerns: Honestly, it's an animated Scooby-Doo movie -- what is there to really be concerned with? There's some slapstick violence, but it's nothing at all objectionable.

Substance: Part of a series of animated adventures of three children "archaeologists" who accidentally travel back in time to some major event. This story covers the Lord's Supper through the Resurrection, told in retrospective by "Mark" the gospel writer. The basic story is followed, with ample literary license for dramatic purposes. Suitable for children where accurate doctrine is not a primary concern.
Style: Animation is B-grade, typical of Saturday morning cartoons.

NO OF PAGES: 0 SUB CAT I: Children's Resources SUB CAT II: Bible Stories SUB CAT III: DESCRIPTION: Jonah, now an elderly man, tells his tale of how God awakened him one night many years ago and told him to go to the great city of Ninevah and preach reprentance, as their wickedness and violence had offended God. Believeing that the Ninevites should be punished, Jonah sets out on his journey. However, disobeying God's command, he goes by ship the opposite way to Tarshish. He is thrown from the ship during the storm and is swallowed by a great fish. He lives in the belly of the fish for three days and nights, until he prays to be saved. God repeats His command to Jonah, so he goes to Nenevah. The people repent and Jonah learns that those who repent are forgiven.NOTES: Donated by Lisa and Jacob Landry. In the forefront of the invaders is a giant warriour: Goliath. The towering behimoth issues a challenge to the Israelites - he will meet in single combat with one of them. If Goliath is beaten, the Philistines will be servants of the Israelites, buti f Goliath wins, the Israelites will be enslaved. For forty days Goliath repeats the challenge, and still no man steps forth to fight for his country's survival. But one boy does. David. Impressed by the display of courage, Saul entrusts the defense of the kingdom to David, whom he kows only as the shepherd boy who sings psalms to him at court.
