The catastrophe is what the Greeks called the exchange of (sizable) minorities between Greece and Turkey following the end of the Greek-Turkish war of 1919-22. This book is long on scholarship but short on passion, as befits the accumulation and presentation of factual data. Maybe the passion belongs in the reader contemplating the facts. The consequences of this war resonates still in the Balkans 100 yeas on.
