While the author presents much to think about and many excellent illustrations, I fear that he has placed too many limits on the original understanding of Jesus and the Gospel, and ends up providing a presentation solely through the prism of eschatology, and thereby neglecting other important strands of thoughts and governing concepts in the New Testament. It is hard to accept the story as given, for one cannot reasonably understand the early church based on the presentation of Jesus and the New Testament as given.… (mehr)
