"Cookies and Kisses" by authors: Trish Perry, Debby Mayne, Cecelia Dowdy and Lynette Sowell

My Thoughts....

Four beautifully written anthologies....

Love's First Stage by Trish Perry

Kissing Carly by Debby Mayne

Loving Luke by Cecelia Dowdy

and

A Recipe for Family by Lynette Sowell

All of these short stories took place in and around Bethlehem, Connecticut where four friends got together every Christmas holiday for a sleepover bringing or/and making their homemade 'Christmas Cookies.

As the story goes on...it will tie into the next story starting with Anna, Kim, Carly and then last Heather...all childhood best friends.

Be ready for a wonderfully written short stories by each of these author that dealt with what was going on in these characters everyday life. I really loved how the authors were able to bring in the Christian view in such a way it was not overly done. .

Add with that the wonderful recipes that were shared Chocolate Peppermint Mint Bars, Holiday Gluten-Free Macaroons[I'm trying this one] and Vanilla Cookies.' This was definitely a delightful holiday read that I would recommend to all.

As usual with these "Love Finds" books, I like one story more than the other. In this case, I liked the first one (by Debby Mayne) better and couldn't really get into the more modern day one.

As it says on the back cover of this book, this is “two heartwarming stories”. I liked how each author worked together to take you from the year1925 in “Deck the Halls” to present day in “ ‘Tis the Season” and kept the Tronnier family alive and well. This truly was a book to curl up on the sofa, turn on the Christmas lights and enjoy Christmas in Cary, North Carolina.
In “Deck the Halls” you will meet William Tronnier, from a wealthy farming family. He sets his sights on Lillian Pickard, a poor girl from the “wrong side of the tracks” who works at the local five and dime store to support her Dad and Mom. You will cheer William on as he has to have a lot of endurance to break through the walls Lillian has put up so she won’t get hurt by him. Her parents don’t help much when they are constantly warning her not to fall in love and get hurt when he leaves her for someone in his own “class” of people. But love will prevail and it will be the best Christmas ever for Lillian Pickard.
In “ ‘Tis the Season” you will skip forward a couple of generation and find Nikki Tronnier moving back to Cary, North Carolina and hoping to buy her great-grandparents home. But before she gets a chance to put in a bid someone comes along and buys it out from under her. When Nikki finds out it was Drew Cornell her heart is torn, as he is the man she has just recently met and who has begun to steal her heart also. He wants help restoring the old home and Nikki has to fight bitter feelings about not getting the house, not telling Drew she wanted the house and not being honest. But in the end, this too will be one of the best for Nikki Tronnier.
Great job Debby Mayne and Trish Perry on this delightful adventure this Christmas Season.
