A rather annoying book. The author assembled a huge mass of photographs of boats on Lake Tahoe, and wrote captions for them - but the captions sometimes don't really relate to the picture, and after the first chapter on the beginnings of white habitation and boating on the lake, there's not a lot of continuity or information on who/when/where. Individuals are identified, mostly as the owners of particular boats, then ignored - no idea who they were or how they relate to the history of Lake Tahoe aside from owning boats. There's a little about the rivalry that created Chris-Craft, but having finished the book I find I have no idea when that whole thing happened, or how it relates to anything other than Lake Tahoe regattas. If you really want to see a whole bunch of pictures of boats (mostly powerboats, mostly racers) on Lake Tahoe, you'll love this. If you wanted to know more about Lake Tahoe and its history...look elsewhere.… (mehr)
