I was expecting much more after reading the blurbs on the back cover but I couldn't make it to the end...was flipping pages skimming like crazy and eventually gave up. I can't think of anything good to say about it.

This book combines romance, drama and suspense to create a fast-paced story. John Sylvester and Cordelia Stapleton are on Capri for a holiday. They are heading to dinner at their friend's house, Charles to meet his new love, Princess Victoria of Norway. While this is going on, there is an eruption of a volcano on Iceland which could wreak havoc on the air and air travel. Of course this is Italy so no story would be complete without some time of corrupt mafioso or crime family. When they attempt to steal a sapphire necklace belonging to the princess, the thief is scared off by the paparazzi. Before the thief can try again, the young Prince Karl, steals the necklace to see to get money so he and his young friend Luca can finance a trip to Stromboli, Mt. Etna and Heruleneum. This starts things rolling where there are executions, attempted kidnappings, Sylvester being suspected of stealing the necklace and more. Will everyone remain safe? Will the boys be okay? What happens to the necklace? There is a dramatic ending where the women play a huge role.

There is never a dull moment as the story takes you from Capri to Naples, Rome, London and more. The places they go are well described with the reader being able to visualize easily what the area looks like, even the descriptions of the ash in the air. It is full of suspense and I never knew what was coming next. The characters were well developed and even though some were royals, they appeared real if not spoiled. The female leads were strong women, smart and were willing to do almost anything for their man. As I said at the beginning, this is also a romance, and there are some implications in the story because of that, but the characters are all looking for the same thing; love and happiness.

A good read for romantic suspense readers, also those who enjoy a scientific lean to a story. I received a copy of this book from the publisher via netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

High on drama but lacking in actual story.
