Peeking Under the Hood (What's Beneath) von Esther Porter
It's a little bit embarrassing how much I didn't know about cars. I picked this book up to read to my 5 year old son and we were both just fascinated! I really loved the illustrations too.
Esther Porter's biography of Abby Wambach is a very simple, fact driven book. It's large print and short straight-to-the-point sentences make it an excellent book for any young child to pick up, with or without an adult. The story in general can inspire any child to chase their dreams regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, etc. When Abby was young, she began playing soccer because her sister liked the sport. Now, she is a world renowned athlete with several Olympic gold medals as well a World Cup win. This goes to show anything is possible with hard work and passion.… (mehr)
Great introduction to composting. It is a very simple book with large pictures. Gives good ideas. I love that it gives children a way to create a small compost pile. Would be great for Earth science. I would recommend for grades 1 and up.
