Took a gamble on this one (not much of a gamble given the cheap price) and it turned out to be a really nice surprise. Short, fast paced, nice sense of humour in much of the dialogue, set in an area I know reasonably well and, best of all, it's got a monster! This is Creature Feature B-Movie fun in writing and a highly recommended read for anyone who likes Guy N Smith (as I do) and similar authors. Will be checking out more from this author.

A sleepy small town beat and a local cop suddenly galvanised into action as the local population turns zombie or worse. The pace picks up in a fight for survival and there are no safe havens. Remy Porter's first venture into the zombie novel genre was impressive. I admired the way he could switch from the humorous to the horrific, from banal ordinariness to the barbaric in a couple of sentences. A writer to watch.
