Hassan Preisler

This autobiography of a Danish-Pakistani actor/debator describes his otherness everywhere he lives. He earns his living partly as a integration-consultant and 'professional anti-racist', but discovers that the integration industry, he is part of, is even more alienating than the ethnic divide it is supposed to bridge and the racism it is supposed to fight. I must admit that I found the stream-of-consciousness style a bit taxing to start with, but it grew on me, as it was the perfect depiction of his 'mixedness' and allows the author to express his alienation without ever being a cliche and to express a criticism of the integration industry that he would probably not dare to air otherwise.… (mehr)
