A beguiling and unusual book for a beguiling and unusual game. As a consequence of its director's creative preferences, The Last Guardian produced little concept art and only six well-defined cut-scenes, so a conventional art book of paintings and storyboards was essentially impossible. Instead the bulk of this volume is filled with screen-shots of the actual sequence of the game, annotated and expanded upon with a wealth of intriguing marginalia. Paging through provides an opportunity to reflect on Guardian's strong sense of mood and very purposeful structure. I was particularly impressed by the quality of the presentation, both the well balanced layouts and the rich printing that accurately reproduces the balance of light, shadow, and colour of the game itself.… (mehr)
