This is a life-changing book. I didn't think it was particularly good until I got past the first fifteen chapters, which were straight-forward, one-dimensional chronological accounts of the author's work in the former Kowloon Walled-City. Then sixteen and seventeen came and they were in a league of their own.

Certainly not everyone's cup of tea. But for anyone curious about a literally and metaphorically dark chapter of Hong Kong, do give this one a try. It's not a book to be taken lightly.… (mehr)
