I just don't like these two characters and the situation isn't funny. Since I'm just not enjoying the story, I'm just going to stop. One interesting thing about this novel is that even though it isn't a special edition, there are illustrations throughout the book.

Well, after DNFing this book, I actually went back and finished it. So many of the reviews I read were glowing, and I just thought, "What am I missing?" I'm afraid, not too much, but I still found some things to like about it. The island wedding setting is wonderfully described - felt like being there, and there is some humor that I didn't find early on in the book. Many of the games and activities that the wedding party plays prior to the wedding are hilarious - an ass crack sneeze just about put me in tears, but I still find the two protagonists unlikable. They do crash the wedding for their own purposes, and I find Brody to be way too wishy-washy. Overall Bridesmaid for Hire is worth the read, but just barely.… (mehr)

Aubree Rowley has been struggling to keep the family potato farm afloat after the death of her sister Cassidy. Aubree was infuriated to learn that half of the farm was left to Wyatt, the brother of her sister's late husband. Wyatt has no interest in the land and is currently sleeping on the couch of his best friend, Laurel after his fiance left him the night before what was to be their wedding day. Laurel wants Wyatt to get his act together, so she comes up with a plan for a marriage of convenience to Aubree that would benefit them both, and as crazy as it seems, it may just work if their feelings for one another don't get in the way first.

The Reason I Married Him is a fun rom-com with some serious topics. The abuse that Aubree and her siblings suffered as children makes for some emotional moments as well as the depression that Wyatt faces after his fiance leaves him. One of the strongest parts of the book, is the banter between Aubree and Wyatt, which lifts this novel beyond just a typical marriage of convenience story and develops the characters in an entertaining way. Even though the book is a bit too long with some repetition, overall, The Reason I Married Him is well worth the read.… (mehr)

Halsey Holmes has been infatuated with Blakely White ever since they met, but now that she has broken up with her boyfriend, Halsey thinks he might just have a chance with her. With the help of his friends/fellow players, he's going to figure out a way to become more important in Blakely's life. When Blakely's apartment is flooded, he offers his spare room until repairs are made, but once she is there, Halsey has no intention of her ever moving out.

He's Not My Type is a fun romantic comedy with a mostly light story until near the end of the book. The "help" offered by Halsey's friends is mostly silly and over the top, but still offers some giggle worthy moments in the early parts of the book. The middle drags a little as it is obvious where the story is headed, while the end of the story provides most of the drama and emotion as it rushes to it's conclusion. Lots of steamy love scenes add to the story without becoming overly repetitive. Overall, He's Not My Type is an entertaining addition to The Vancouver Agitators series.… (mehr)
