"A Home for Spooky" tells the story of a girl as she navigates trying to help a dog recover from neglect. The child finds the dog near a landfill and after hiding him from her family and taking care of him the best she could he becomes very ill. She finally tells her parents of the dog and they take him to the vet. The discuss euthanizing the dog, but the girl insists that the dog will get better. Low and behold with the right medicine and diet Spooky does get better and moves to the girl's home. A well written book about a friendship between a girl and a dog.… (mehr)

Max lives in South America on a Farm, he learns that a box of grapes at a local market is going to America and decides to leave a letter inside. Weeks go by and finally he receives a letter back from someone, a girl about his age! Though they speak different languages, they have friends translate the letters for them and become friends. One day there is a huge earthquake in Max's town and his school closes for a while to rebuild - when they return there are packages waiting for them with new supplies and a letter from his pen pals whole class!
