This book suffers from the flaws of other quote books, with only few, if any, of the virtues. Apparently stuck together from four pamphlets or booklets, this book clearly shows signs of its origin in the 1980s. The first section, about success, is mostly capitalists and Calvinists, so you can imagine what the definition of success tends to be. The second two sections, one on sexuality, the other on love, alternate between misogyny and New Age silliness. The final one is just boring. Some of the quoted authors are usually very quotable - Twain. Nietzsche. Mencken. Dorothy Parker. Oscar Wilde. This book serves as a reminder that even good quote sources can generate some boring quotes. Yes, there were some good quotes in here, but the ratio of good quotes to bad or boring quotes is just abysmal. The author lists these as the "best" quotes, which probably tells us more about the author than it does about success, love, sexuality, or life in general. There are a lot of good quote books; avoid this one.… (mehr)
