Peter Reid (1)

Interesting book. Reid makes an effort to examine broad thematic issues facing the English army during the Scottish Wars, Hundred Years War, and Wars of the Roses, before undertaking a narrative of those conflicts. I'm not sure he does a great job with it. He isn't an inspiring narrator, and other writers, such as Clifford Rogers, Michael Prestwich, or Kelly DeVries have done some of the same things only better.

The real advantage of this book, is that Reid puts a lot together all under one cover. There is some valuable information here, and if you're looking for a single source it might be the best one available.… (mehr)
