Every once in a while, it does the soul good to read a book that is so sweet it might cause cavities. This month’s sugar-coma inducing read for me is Remember Love by Riley Rhea. I came across this book when I saw its sequel listed as a new release and I couldn’t resist.

Remember Love is a friends-to-lovers story told from both Brenna and Tucker’s POV. With flashbacks scattered throughout, readers are given a glimpse into how these two met and other important moments from their past. The plot isn’t too surprising, but the characters are charming and the writing so warm, it’s easy to get swept away in the story.

Brenna is close to graduating when she returns home for a quick visit. Upon arriving in town, her path crosses with her childhood friend, Tucker. It’s hinted that there is more to their past, but it takes big gesture for her to open her mind up to the memories and the future. Brenna is a sweet gal with a fun personality. She speaks her mind, but has her moments of insecurity, especially where Tucker is concerned. Tucker stayed in their hometown, biding his time until his love remembers. He’s overly sweet, but not sickeningly so. He’s a man who knows what he wants and doesn’t hide his emotions.

One of the best aspects of Remember Love is the fact that Tucker isn’t the typical man-whore seen in most romances these days. He’s definitely not a prude or virginal, but he’s not out sleeping about with any willing woman. I loved that! In my next post, I will be touching on this subject, so I don’t want to get too detailed with my opinions quite yet.

While I am huge fan of this book, I will be honest and say there was one area I found too unbelievable. I don’t understand how Brenna can’t remember what Tucker wants her to remember. I find that farfetched, but that’s just a minor issue compared to the awesomeness that is the book itself.

Remember Love definitely pleased my romantic soul and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, Someone to Love.

Early last week I read and reviewed the first book in Riley Rhea’s Forever Love series, Remember Love. I was instantly drawn to the characters and knew I would be reading the rest of the series as soon as possible. Lucky for me, Someone to Love was recently released, so I didn’t have to wait long to start the next book.

Someone to Love slightly overlaps some of the time frame in which Remember Love took place. It’s always interesting to gain new perspectives on previous events, and see what took place behind closed doors. While the books are technically standalones, there are a few “you had to be there” to understand jokes, so I recommend reading Remember Love first.

This time around, we follow Tucker and Brenna’s best friends, Spencer and Lexi, as they become fast friends and lovers. Spencer is the mysterious new guy in town, with secrets he’d rather keep hidden in his fortress of a heart. Lexi is an outspoken, happy-go-lucky artist, who is willing to take the time to break down Spencer’s walls, even if it’s one brick at a time.

The plot wasn’t as moving as Remember Love, but the writing was still impressive with its entrancing quality. The story flowed, never dulling in its pacing. I did feel like this was almost a retelling of Remember Love at times, though. While the story was supposed to be focused on Spencer and Lexi, most of the highlights in the book were events that took these characters were only witness to. When we finally came to a big moment for the main characters, it was nearly 3/4 of the way through the book.

I did enjoy Someone to Love and I’m looking forward to seeing what will happen to the new characters we were introduced to. I hope I don’t have to wait too long for the next book! :)
