Skittish Seduction is back on track for Charlie Richards. A fast-paced novella that sticks to her recipe for fated mates.
As always the characters have minimum development and the plot is what I use to call a Harlequin recipe. Meet -- personal problem -- overcome problem -- a little bit of outside challenge -- HEA -- the end.
Unlike some of her previous work this past few years - this one is classic Charlie.
I never give a 4 or 5/5 for novella-length work as it is impossible to develop a story fully in that length if you are a mere mortal. This one 3.5/5 - a lovely snack.… (mehr)

First - I have been reading Charlie Richard's work since I discovered m/m romances around 12 years ago and I continue to buy and read her work. Second - Recently, the occasional story has been published that is not up to her standards. Third - Even though I enjoy her work and will continue to buy it (I have struggled a bit with this, but I am an obsessive collector of series) , it is with the full knowledge that she writes short stories in the format of the old Harlequin romances - under 120 pages with the climax and denouement in the final pages.
For those looking for a well-developed plot, well-developed characters, and a story that is overall satisfying - you will not find it here - but you will get an entertaining break in life and can, by reading an entire series, feel like at least the plot is well developed.… (mehr)

The length impacts on the score for me as a novella/short story is never as developed and interesting as a full-length story. It requires less skill and can not be seen as a full meal deal; however, this came out at a 3.5/5 and my relief at not running into garbage has urged me to round up to a 4/5.
We are back to writing that is classic Charlie Richards. Lately, I have questioned my decision to buy all of her books as some were -- less than expected.
Romancing the Foreman is back to a classic Richards style. Good flow, decent characters, enough action to keep the story moving, and a plot that works. The addition of a bigger, background issue ensures the tension is back. I am still not crazy about her 12-chapter format, but by treating each book as a mini section in an overall story I regain my happy place. Here is hoping the next one is not another crash and burn.… (mehr)
