Essie is the Golden Girl of the cozy world. I found myself laughing at all the hysterical moments, and the scenes that cause you to well, laugh out loud are the reason you should read this book. Picture Sophia within her nursing home, murder and some great moments of wit!
Essie is a Senior sleuth, and this was a new type of cozy sleuth to me. I haven't read of older sleuths before but Essie is amazing! I found myself without knowing the who done it till the end.
I loved that I couldn't guess with in the first half of the book the suspect and motives. I adored the humor, and as this was my first chance reading any of Patricia Rockwell's work it set the standard high for other books by her. I look forward to reading and laughing my way through this charming series.
I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review.

Essie reminds me of my 94-year old mother-in-law and her friends at her assisted living facility. Age does not stop the mind from working, memories get old and body parts are weaker or slower, but as Essie proves she can still solve a mystery.

It was fun though sometimes a bit simplistic (after all I'm not old I'm sophisticated and all here!). I recommend to all.

FM for Murder by Patricia Rockwell made me a fan. I had previously read Valentined, a book in another series that she has written. I loved this one even more. FM for Murder is the second in her acoustic mystery series.

Patricia Barnes is a psychology professor who is enlisted for help with figuring out who murdered a disc jockey. Her own daughter heard the murder happen on the radio. The disc jockey, AKA The Black Vulture, says a few words on the air before he is shot. Meanwhile we have flashbacks to a few days before with the story of Daniel Bridgewater. He is in charge of Bridgewater Carpets, a job that he does very well. His elderly father, the Charles, wants him to get married. But Daniel is determined to find his estranged brother. He is hoping that reconciliation can be achieved between the two before his father passes away.

Patricia has the recording of the last minutes before the disc jockey was shot and listens it over and over again for clues about the voices on the tape.

There are a lot of family secrets in story and information about acoustics in forensics. I really enjoyed learning about acoustics. Also there are false leads and big surprises. Towards the end, I kept saying “Oh!” out loud and my husband checked with me twice to see if was OK! It was that good. This is one mystery that I didn’t figure out along the way.

I highly recommend this book to all cozy mystery readers.

I received this book as a win from FirstReads but that in no way influenced my thoughts or feelings in this review.

alentined by Patricia Rockwell was exactly what I needed to read during a stressful time. We had recently moved and things did not smoothly. This cozy did not have an abundance of suspects and had no flashbacks.

Essie Cobb is a 90 year old resident of Happy Haven Assisted Living. She has gotten a reputation for solving some crimes, one that I read about in Bingoed. It is a part of series that I really like. Being a senior myself, a young 67 year old, myself, there were situations that made me smile in recognition. Essie trying a yoga class and knowing that would be her one and only yoga class!

Essie picks up the mail one day receives a very fancy valentine from Boston, Massachusetts. It is signed from a secret admirer. It was lacey, had a ribbon and beautiful stuffed heart. But she doesn’t know anyone from Boston and has no idea of who could have sent it to her. Essie is smart as whip, has an excellent memory, a good sense of humor and no desire for romance. So she is really surprised and studies the beautiful valentine with a critical eye. She puts on her thinking cap which by the way matches her outfit and sets out to uncover the identity of the sender. She has unknowing gets involved in a high profile police investigation.

I loved this story because the plot was simple and Essie’s personality shown through so easily. A meticulous and clever woman is just the answer to this mystery.

I love this book even more than I loved Bingoed. Now I want to read Papoosed, another one in this series.

I highly recommend this book to all cozy lovers and all senior.

This book was received as a win from FirstReads but that in no way influenced my thoughts or feelings in this review.
