Although you will develop an intense love/hate feeling for the man as you go through the pages, you always have the thought in the back of your mind of the necessity for what he put his men through. One mistake by any of them could have at the very least cost the entire crew of a nuclear submarine their lives. At the worse, it would have triggered World War III.
Rickover was at once a very complex man and yet so simple. The biography delves into what made him the man he was - his motivations and his goals. Some would say they were set far too high and yet, the success of the American navy nuclear power program vindicates everything this fiery man did.
I highly recommend this book to any student of leadership or submarine history. The subtitle says it all - How One Man Made A Difference.… (mehr)
