I enjoyed this story, with characters Nessheim and his boss, Guttman. Nessheim is back in another undercover case, looking for a Nazi spy working on a team who are making the atomic bomb. Nessheim also is going to law school, where a former flame suddenly enrolls. They pick up their relationship, reluctantly on Nessheim's side, since she dumped him previously. This installment takes place in Chicago, in the winter of '42. I'm looking forward to the next one.

This was a good book, leading up to WWII. Jimmy is an FBI agent tasked with rooting out Nazi spies in the U.S. before war breaks out in Europe. He goes undercover in several assignments gathering clues and finding out why an informant was murdered.

Billings, who owns an art gallery, gets himself involved in an affair with the wife of the Leader of the Opposition. Three wonderful weeks ensue, and then a General Election is called.

Suddenly it all becomes much more complicated.

I was looking for something different to read, ad in subject matter, this fitted. Political intrigue and the perils of upsetting the wrong people form the basis of an enjoyable read, which only took a couple of days to finish.

This is a clever and well-written "who-done-it." It is a FBI vs Nazi spy story that takes place mostly in the USA. The characters seem familiar and their conversations give the book the proper time-feel (late 1930's). This is a fun read.
