Springtime in Surrey is a collection of Christian Women’s Fiction and Historical and Contemporary Romance stories by Faith Blum, Andrea Renee Cox, Bailey Gaines, Katja H. Labonté, Grace A. Johnson, Rachel Leitch, Erika Mathews, and Kellyn Roth. This collection of stories will draw you in and keep you reading.

Although these stories stand alone, combined in one volume, they provide the perfect compilation to keep you engaged. I honestly can say I could not pick a favorite out of all of these stories. The authors did a wonderful job creating memorable characters and enjoyable storylines.

However, if I had to name what story most resonated with my life, dreams, and aspirations, I would have to say it would be The Cottage on the Hill by Andrea Renee Cox. Since my daughter took ballet lessons, I enjoyed reading about Moira, teatime, and her struggles to discover hope in her lost ballerina dreams.

So, if you are looking for a collection of Christian Women’s Fiction and Historical and Contemporary Romance stories, check out Springtime in Surrey by Faith Blum, Andrea Renee Cox, Bailey Gaines, Katja H. Labonté, Grace A. Johnson, Rachel Leitch, Erika Mathews, and Kellyn Roth.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

“Springtime in Surrey” is an anthology of sweet, clean, Christian novellas—it’s like getting eight books in one! It holds a mixture of historical, romance, and women’s fiction with lovely themes of faith. I enjoy each of these author’s and their unique writer’s voices.

Jesus, I Am Resting focuses on Elinor, a nurse during WWI, and her passion for those orphaned. The themes of resting and trusting in God is a message many of us need.

The Cottage on the Hill, centering on Moira and Adrian, is so sweet! I could see this as a picture in my head and adored the humor and faith, as well as the elements of trust and hope.

If I Knew You Were Coming takes place during WWII with Joan trying to take care of her children. I teared up with this one!

Her Heart's Home takes place in the early 20s and centers on Meredith, a woman who finds a home for her heart. I like that she is in her thirties and carries a mix of awkwardness and sass.

The Tussie-Mussie carries a bit of early 1900s mystery. The sibling relationship in this story stole my heart. (And what a great title!)

The Odd Duck Society - Mysterious letters. Authors. Jane Austen references. Need I say more? Jessamy lacks confidence and deals with anxiety, making her both challenging and relatable.

Fear Not Tomorrows - I thoroughly enjoyed Margaret's growth and her acceptance of change. Lovely spiritual message.

Courage to Stay is a story containing elements of PTSD. It's a touching story of family, faith, and love.

First Line: Elinor Chapman was alone.
Genre: Christian Historical Fiction, Anthology
Author: Kellyn Roth, Erika Mathews, Faith Blum, Bailey Gaines, Rachel Leitch, Andrea Renee Cox, Grace A. Johnson, Katja H. Lebonté

The secret isn't what it was before. And that makes this a hard review to write. Just because there is so much more to the story now. I applaud Kellyn Roth's growth in writing as this new secret shows her growth as a writer. With the first version of The Dressmaker's Secret, I found a love for indie books, one of the first indie books I read that was written by someone who was not over ten years older than me. At the time, I hadn't really taken much notice of indie books and Roth's was a first in a long line of indie books. Now, if I had read the first version now I would have liked it, but not enjoyed it due to the fact that it may have bored me. No offence meant, with the things she has changed the author has shown an incredible new maturity in her writing, which is wonderful. I enjoyed the story the first time and the changes have made it so much better.

While I disliked characters at first I grew to like them, seeing that their past mistakes have molded their character. I thoroughly enjoyed the setting. Alice, wow, I had forgotten how much I loved reading about her, she is such a spunky girl. Ivy, sweet precious Ivy, who I am eagerly waiting for her (rewritten) book from the author.

Warning: mentions of unwed pregnancy, rape, mentions of a baby being stillborn.

Oh, I probably could have guessed what would happen in this short 'n' sweet family summer tale. But I didn't go in guessing. Just took the story as it came and let it make me feel good.
