I loved the cover and the creepy atmosphere.

Pastor Aidan Schaeffer has suffered a loss. A loss of his parents, his fiancée and his faith. Not long after his ex fiancée leaves him for another pastor she is brutally murdered in a ritualistic killing.

The killer may be someone very close to Aiden.
I really enjoyed the first half of this book, when whispered disembodied voices and footprints with no visible owner appeared. Towards the middle when it got more into the investigation, theology and biblical quotes it did not hold my interest as well.

I received a complimentary copy for review.

This was a decent book, VERY religious so if that's not your thing, just be warned. Interesting plot and it kept me engaged (I listed to the audio version). That being said while it had a distinct ending, it didn't (you'll understand if you read) and cliffhanger endings are a peeve of mine. I did enjoy the characters and storyline enough that I will get the next book in the series.

I was given a free copy for an honest review.

This book was very engaging, even though Aiden seemed like an angsty emo whiner at first. He's a pastor with a faith crises. His ex fiancee is murdered and he is the number one suspect. The real killers are so obvious it's not funny. As soon as the head killer is introduced, your mind screams he's the one!

Even with its flaws, the book is pretty good, with local Ohio lore. I want the next book.

For animal lovers, Aiden crates his dog. Just FYI.… (mehr)

Aidan is a young pastor who is questioning his faith. Add to that the death of his parents and being dumped by his fiance and Aidan is now without any anchor. When his ex-fiance is grusomely murdered, Aidan is the first suspect. He is quickly dismissed but he is determined to find the killer. Because there is definitely something otherworldly going on. Bare footprints appear in the snow and other creepy things that have him on the track of ...a demon?

This book is creepy scary. The kind that sort of gets under your skin. But it is really a book about faith, which I can stand when the supernatural is involved. The soul searching is kept pretty light but it is definitely there. So if that is not your thing, you may want to pass. But the book is very well written and the characters are so believeable that if you are on the fence, you might just give it a try. There is also action that keeps things moving along. There is going to be a second book. I'm excited.… (mehr)
