Janette Sadik-Khan

An interesting overview of how many of the ideas popular in dense urban areas such as Bus Rapid Transit and closing streets to cars came into being. Sadik-Khan presents various stories of how the Bloomberg administration of New York took on different methods of transport and attempted to improve them. She is refreshingly honest about the struggles she faced and how nervous she was before the launches of some larger projects such as bike share. I also appreciated the amount of collaborators and partnerships she built to push forward some of the transit projects showing that no matter how great an idea might be it still needs to be sold to the general public and rely on local knowledge to be achieved.… (mehr)
