A really enjoyable book which is thought provoking , with a go for what makes you happy ..what does make you happy ? What scores do you ) would you need to settle ? What loose ends would you have ? .if you believed you only had a few days left to live theme .
I loved the bond Lucy had with her son.Could identify with the change in relationship sub plot between her and her son that she had brought up herself since early teenage hood with a lot of help from her parents.
A couple of little niggles from the single parenthood theme that bugged me .If she was so skint especially in the early days how come they both drove and had a car..it was a bit like middle England does single parenthood not reality. Liked the fact that they put in that her mum had secretly helped with her shop rent a few times.
But ..I fell in thrall with Lucy and her last days and didn't begrudge her the plot twist ending .
A comforting inspiring keeper of a book and would happily read more .

I know that we usually read chick lit when we can't handle anything else but this was awful! I could see the writing on the wall from the very beginning of the book!

Sarah Lewis wants a time out. She feels stagnated in her twenty-year marriage, her children are gone and the same-ness of every day is pushing her beyond the point of frustration. Her husband David doesn’t see is quite the same way! Regardless, Sarah puts everything on the line and leaves England for a year in Paris. Of course, in books as in life, nothing goes quite according to plan, especially when the peripheral people are not willing to follow script.

Annie Sanders is a new author for me and I was surprised to find “her” books are collaboration between two authors, Annie Ashworth and Meg Sanders. I enjoyed this light read enough to pick up another.

Maddie and Izzie are both housewives new to the country lifestyle when they move to small town Ringford. Being a self-described “free spirit” Izzie has a little bit of an easier time of it. For Maddie the move is made almost unbearable when her husband unexpectedly dies leaving her not only alone, but facing a mountain of debt she knew nothing about.

A good story always involves a little bit of happenstance. In this case it is the discovery of a secret skin cream recipe in an old book belonging to Maddie’s grandmother. When the cream turns out to be a huge success in the high-end cosmetic market, the two enlist a rag-tag group of friends and neighbors to work on its production. Of course, some mayhem and some unexpected events ensue.

Another amusing light read.
