Unbecoming: A Novel von Rebecca Scherm
I would like to give this book 3.5 stars. Writing a bit self conscious, but overall quite good. A satisfying ending and good suspense throughout.
I thought I would like this book more than I did. It is about a scientist growing algae in space to save the planet. Didn't really like it.........
Decent character study that I liked more than I thought I would. Undoubtedly a book that will suffer from its own marketing campaign. Quite glad I went into it with no expectations.
I like this book a lot. It portrays a space habitat that is not perfect - there are problems and rough edges and dust and odors (real, in other words). And the characters are all complicated and flawed. It's not a perfect novel, but there are some intriguing ideas about our loss of privacy using tech tools and the impact of catastrophic climate change. I think there's a certain depth of melancholy in this type of psychological science fiction that is moving and more prescient than lighter novels.… (mehr)
