Contrary to popular belief the United States was not the only country to meddle in African affairs during the Cold War. It was a regular collection of the usual suspect: US, USSR, PRC, Cuba, France, Britain, Warsaw Pact, and other African countries.

I'm interested in this topic, so it was useful. Not a great book though - the title doesn't work for her argument, which is itself not really sustained or all that interesting.

Good if you want to learn about politics in Guinea in the '40s and '50s, otherwise, skip it.
