Ethan A. Schmidt (1975–2015)

When they say this book is all encompassing, they are right. I was stunned at how organized the history was within these pages. I was also very surprised that so many native peoples were covered and how each group was organized and treated in their own way. In most history books about native peoples you will only find a broad view of "all the native people did this" but that is not how this book is written. The focus here is on the variety of interactions among each of the groups represented. I find that extremely important because each tribe in each area of the country basically had their own beliefs and interactions when it came to the revolution because they were basically their own governments, with their own leaders. History forgets that, but this book doesn't.

I would say this is a very important history for not only historians, but casual readers with an interest in Native history, the Revolution itself, or history in general.… (mehr)
