Rustic Mexican: Authentic Flavors for Everyday Cooking von Deborah Schneider
Meh.
Gorgeous photos and delicious recipes. Including a nice overview of all sorts of fresh and dried peppers. [I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.]
I am reading this book while in Afghanistan staying in a guest house with an unfurnished kitchen and no cook at dinner time. The recipes in this beautiful book are detailed and exotic and I want to try them on wonderful Afghan kebabs. But there are no tomatillos! So sad! I'm starving! (Don't worry, there are plenty of other recipes in this book that do not require tomatillos, but I'm hungry for the ones that do.)
There are lots of wonderful recipes here and as a compendium I think it is pretty complete. It might be the only one you will ever need. Ms Schneider is careful to tell you where the recipes come from too, a touch I always like in cookbooks.
This is another cookbook that is unpleasant to read on a tablet. I am beginning to think most cookbooks are that way.
