Anne Schulman

I'm still not sure about the ending of this chick-lit novel from Anne Schulman and I'm not sure that another publisher or would have changed it. Still it isn't a bad story.

It's a story about publishing and two women having serious changes in their lives.

One is Holly Grant, married to a serious control freak. A man who regards her as his property and stifles any sense of independence that she might have. Her wake-up call is when he hits her and she suddenly realises that this isn't right. Once she escapes she finds hidden resources and promotion.

The other main character in this story is Simone Pearse, a gifted editor who has sacrificed everything to get to the top but is unsure that she can continue there.

When things in the publishing house get rocky one of their successful authors decides to help but it doesn't help inner insecurities which change everything.

While interesting this just somehow didn't click well with me, as I said, particularly the ending which didn't really make me happy with the story overall.… (mehr)
