Joanne Schwehm

My early thoughts about Incumbent were not wrong. This book was wonderful. Drake is this honest, intelligent, passionate man who happens to be a politician. Lucy is a teacher who went into teaching for all the right reasons! These are 2 honorable people in a world that loves to tear you down. Their story felt real to me and I wasn't expecting that. I also wasn't expecting the tears but this book did make me cry a little. The other Prescott siblings are amazing as well and I cannot wait for their books! (I totally think Gretchen and Mason will get together!). Joanne Schwehm has managed to write a beautiful book about a world that isn't always beautiful. While you do get to see the ugly side of politics the book was still different from what I expected. You figure out early on what will most likely happen, and even seeing it coming, I was still surprised by a few things.

POV: Dual (in my opinion, the BEST POV is dual)
Tears: a few but not in a super sad way

This was such a wonderful story. Between the angst and sweetness in it, I was sucked right in.

The journey that Andrea and Bentley take in this book is a breath of fresh air. We have Bentley, the critic who has been following Andrea's performances with much hope and disappointment. He can see her ability to act, but she hasn't quite given it to him.

Andrea has been bashed by this critic over and over again. This current play could be her big break into Broadway. And he slams her again. She has had it. She is going to get to the bottom of why this one critic continues to slam her over and over again.

The sparks that fly between these two characters is inevitable. We see that from the beginning. The pull these two have in undeniable. But the situation they are in professionally could ruin any real chance they could have at love and promising careers.

I really enjoyed this story. This is the first book of Joanne's that I have read. I am definitely a fan of hers now!… (mehr)
