The book provides a good perspective of the East India Company in India. We believe it was the EIC that ruled India, and which came in as an independent corporation. However, the book provides an alternative aspect, that the EIC was an instrument of Britain's sovereign policy. Sudipta explores the links between the country and the company, and explains how the relationship with "India" changed during their time in India.
