I don't usually write reviews, but this book really annoyed me.
The author claims that she is breaking down the double standard between men and women when it comes to sex and that she is turning the word "slut" into something positive. That would be fine, except nothing like that ever happens in this book.
Instead, readers get the story of a girl who was abused by seemingly every man she knew as a child who grew up seeking love and validation in the only way she ever knew. She sleeps indiscriminately with band members and crew whether she is attracted to them or not and has sex with people because she feels obligated. The way she tries so hard, including mentioning her master's degree every few chapters, makes her completely unlikable.
This is not empowering; it is just pathetic.… (mehr)
