This is a quick little book that is easy to pick up and have a mini history lesson in 5 minutes. Most of the walks are very short and that makes it a great thing to keep in the car for whenever you have 30 minutes to kill between appointments (that’s just me). I have lived in Denver most of my adult life and after spending some time with this book it is amazing how little I know about the city. I requested this book when I knew that I would be taking a trip to Colorado this past summer. I read much of it before going just to familiarize myself with landmarks and neighborhoods. Boy am I glad that I did that. After arriving in Colorado, I discovered that I had forgotten to pack the book. I was so disappointed. However, just having read it before traveling made it much easier to relax and not feel like a complete tourist who would have been lost without any guide at all.

I'm hoping that I can return again and will definitely not forget the book!… (mehr)

As a Denver resident who believes that there's no better way to see a city than to walk through it, I was thrilled to get this book but unsure of how beneficial it would be to me.

Turns out I needn't have worried. This is a real walker's book, with the little details included, like public transit access, contact information for places along the route, and occasional notes on when the best times to visit are. The majority of the content in the book is historical notes on the locations you visit, all of which are quite interesting and give you the type of connection you might expect from a particularly well curated museum installation. Even though I live here in Denver, I learned quite a lot about my home.
