Synopsis: The governor and the lieutenant governor of Texas are killed in a car explosion and someone has to assume the leadership of the state. Ben Travis, a north Texas rancher and part time legislator with an estranged daughter is tapped as the new governor. Through a series of mysterious events he finds that the President of the US is about to nationalize all of the oil, gas, and water in Texas. Travis decides, with the help of his professor friend Cole, that the only way to save these resources is to secede from the union.
Review: In one of the reviews on the cover Steve Forbes makes mention of the 2012 'angry political season'. I wonder what he thinks about the politics of 2016. In any case, this book was enough of mystery to hold my attention and the satire kept me amused. There was also a touching amount of loyalty that lent credibility to the characters.… (mehr)
